Australia and the United Kingdom are experiencing a hung parliament. The upcoming general elections in Malaysia are stirring worry about a possible hung parliament.

The upcoming general elections in 2012 are causing uncertainty of a sure win for Barisan Nasional. The possibilities of a hung parliament happening is causing a state of uncertainty.

However, Khairy Jamaluddin, member of the Malaysian Parliament for Rembau states that nobody won an independent in the 2008 elections, so chances of a hung parliament are slim.

“I still believe that come the next general elections, we will still win”, said Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, politician from United Malays National Organisation (UMNO).

If a hung parliament were to happen in 2012, Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan, Chairperson of BERSIH states that our politicians will not have the maturity to deal with it.

Lim Kit Siang, Democratic Action Party (DAP) leader states that threats uttered about a possible hung parliament is all rhetoric of race and religion and is highlighted by the possibility of changing powers.

“Vote for politicians who have this maturity, who appreciate principals of democracy and who have the right values. If you do that, then maybe you will get politicians who can handle a hung parliament situation”, urges Sreenevasan.
